The Mold Hunter, Inc performs both mold inspections and remediation. We are fully insured with workers comp, general liability.   We are locally owned, not a franchised operation, and have been in business since 2004. We are not a home inspection company trying to squeeze a little more money out of a home inspection, or a restoration company that is trying to scare their clients into remediation.

The Mold Hunter TestingWe use solid techniques to collect data that we submit to an independent lab that is accredited in mold mycology to determine the specific mold types in your home and provide you with enough information to help you make an informed decision. We provide mold inspections every day, and almost 100% of the crawlspaces we inspect have some degree of microbial growth in them.  We have a proprietary system to rate the amount of mold we observe in crawlspaces. It is a 1-10 scale and if we score it between a 1-3 we consider this to be normal and ordinary and does not require a mold remediation plan. However if we score it between a 4-10 then we do recommend a remediation plan. Of course the larger the number the more mold we are observing in your crawlspace.  We can take a surface sample of likely infected areas and use lab analysis to determine exactly what it is we are seeing.

testing2Our basic inspection fee includes a visual inspection of all accessible areas of the house and includes 2 air samples, one indoor and one outdoor reference sample, as required by industry standard protocol. This includes overnight charges to the lab. After the lab receives the samples we can generally get the results in 24 hours provided a weekend or holiday is not involved. We typically email these results to you. We will not disclose any of the results to anyone else unless you provide us with written authorization to do so.

How many samples do you need? A good rule of thumb is one indoor air sample for every 1000 sq ft of living area. Anytime we do an inspection, during this if we see any visible mold we will recommend that you take a surface sample of the visible area. You really determine how many samples we take, by the size of your home and the level of thoroughness that you would like for us to provide. Thanks in advance for your interest.
